About Me

Hi everyone! I thought it was about time I wrote an 'About Me' page. Those of you who are regular readers will probably already know most of what I write here, but hopefully you'll learn something new!

First off, my name is Lucy, I'm 26 and I got married in July 2011. I completed a degree in Early Childhood Studies at Winchester University a few years ago, and one day I'd like to use it to become a teacher - I still need to do a PGCE first. However, for now I am enjoying staying at home with our wonderful children - there is so much to experience with them each day, and I love having the chance to see them grow up and take in the world around them.

This is my husband, Liam, and you can read all about our wedding and honeymoon to Barcelona on my 'Wedding' page. Liam is currently working in his dream job as a graphic designer...long may he enjoy it!

We have two children. Izzy, who is 6 and in her third year at "big school" now - my baby is growing up too fast!

Woolacombe August 2011
and Toby, who is 2 and loves playing and eating, not necessarily in that order!

Whilst I adore my children, I don't adore the body that two pregnancies has left me with. Toby was 11lbs 3oz when he was born (ouch!) so my stomach muscles need some serious work if they are ever to get back to how they were!! I am constantly trying to find exercise I enjoy and a way of eating that fits in with my lifestyle and my weight loss aims...I'll get there one day.

I originally started this blog to give my Mum a break from three times daily (at least!) texts telling her in great detail what I had just eaten!! So you will see a lot of photos and descriptions of my daily eats here, but you will also find recipes and many many trips to the play park with the children! I adore food, eating, cooking etc (perhaps too much!) and love discovering new products and recipes by reading other blogs, and then playing around with them to see what I can create.

I hope you enjoy reading Porridge and Parsnips. If there is anything you'd like to see more/less of, just leave me a comment or email me at porridgeandparsnips@live.co.uk Feedback is always appreciated!

  1. Hi, I loved browsing through your blog, but the first burning question is: how did you get such a great looking site?? I have just started my own blog and am using a blogger template, but yours is brilliant, and did you adjust the width?? I think I would like to follow you as I am also a SW member :)

  2. This is a pretty awesome article. One of those articles that you find after weeks of searching. And I am grateful that all of that searching was worth it. Because this article is pretty damn awesome.
