Birthday Fun

I'd intended to publish this post yesterday, but by the time we finally got the children into bed at 9.30pm (don't ask!) & I'd only written half the post, I knew it was gonna have to be finished this morning. So here it is...

Monday - in case you didn't know (!!) - was our daughter's 5th birthday. We'd already had her party on Saturday, so her actual birthday was a bit more relaxed, with a trip to Crealy in the afternoon.

First, though, presents!

She got so many gifts, but the main thing we gave her was a kit to make a photo album. She loves doing crafty stuff, so with this she can make her own wedding photo album when we're making ours!

Next, it was time for breakfast. Izzy had chosen our breakfasts all weekend - on Saturday we'd had pancakes, on Sunday we'd had smoothies, and on Monday she chose French toast...

The others had theirs with banana, cinnamon and golden syrup. I topped mine with the last of the stewed plums and some desiccated coconut...

delicious! :)

After breakfast, my Mum and youngest sister came round to see the birthday girl. My sister gave Izzy a new outfit (that she wore for the day) and a cute headband...

So pretty!! :)

We then sang happy birthday again with the last half of the 2nd butterfly cake...

Strange half new outfit/half pyjamas combo!!
& then Izzy did some of her new craft stuff with my Mum...

while Liam and I sorted out packed lunches. Liam and the children had tuna sandwiches, but I made myself a quinoa salad by mixing a pack of microwave quinoa (last time we went to Crealy I cooked the quinoa myself, but then it was all sticky cold, so this time I cheated) with a chopped pepper, some diced cucumber, some sour cream and some guacamole...

Plus a Nakd bar & an apple of course. This amount of quinoa should actually have served 2 people, but no-one else wanted any so I ended up eating the whole thing, whoops!!!

Once baby (finally!) woke up from his nap, we headed to Crealy. Obligatory (!) height measuring at the entrance...

We arrived just in time to go to a song & dance show...

Waiting patiently...

Time to dance...

And then time to eat lunch...

Yum! Although I was a little annoyed we'd gone to the effort of packing lunch - Crealy has been updated loads since we last went & one of the new restaurants is an Italian with all you can eat pizza-pasta-salad buffet...we're so treating ourselves to that next time!! :-D

After lunch, we made the most of the fact it wasn't raining (despite a very grey sky) to play outside for a bit...

Izzy and I are in this photo somewhere!

We then headed inside for Toby to stretch his legs for a bit (being cooped up in the pushchair all day is no fun!!)...

and for me to get some chewy onion rings...

There was also a new "beach bar" where Liam and I had coffees...

This was a really good idea, as behind the blue wall was a huge sand pit. So we were able to sit at an outside table, overlooking the sand whilst Izzy had fun...

She also made a new little friend so spent lots of time running around and making sand angels! :)

The final treat of the day for the birthday girl was a pony ride...

She looks so much bigger in these photos than in the one of her doing the same thing on her 2nd birthday (which is a good thing obviously!!)

I persuaded Liam to walk her round as I was wearing flip-flops & wanted to avoid mucky feet!!

She got a pretty rosette to add to her collection, as well as a toy giraffe she bought in the shop using birthday money from Granny Lou-Lou!

On the way out we bumped into the mascot bear so Izzy got a cuddle...

And then it was time to go home. For dinner, Izzy had requested pasta bake, so I cooked this, but with frozen soya beans instead of grated courgette as I was all out.

Delicious as always! :)

Another long post without much food...it's a good thing today is 'What I Ate Wednesday'...I better go eat something!! :) Have a great day everyone!

  2. Such a fabulous way to spend your birthday. Love that kids still have extended birthdays ... I'm pushing for a week for mine but I doubt I'll get it ;-)
